Sunset Hills History
Sunset Hills Elementary School was built in 1956. The neighborhood was growing so quickly at that time that the school district bought two houses on South 93rd Avenue to use as temporary schoolhouses while Sunset Hills was being constructed. Our building was modeled on a “California pod” design, selected because its open outer hallways enabled it to be erected in a short period of time. Today Sunset Hills, Westside’s smallest elementary school, strives to prepare its 150 students to be lifelong learners, effective citizens, and caring people. Sunset’s parents, students, and staff are proud of their community and school.
