“Grossology” Visits Sunset Hills!

As an end of the first semester celebration, Omaha Children’s Museum visited Sunset with their presentation, “Grossology.”  Students were entertained with many “gross” facts and demonstrations.  Thank you to Community Club for sponsoring this event!


Gingerbread House Tradition

This week, all students participated in Sunset’s annual tradition of making Gingerbread Houses.  Students paired with their grade level buddies and went to work!  The houses have been displayed at Sunset this week and will soon be moved to various places around Omaha to spread some holiday cheer!  Thank you to Community Club for sponsoring this activity!  


Sunset Hills Geography Bee

A Geography Bee took place at Sunset Elementary on November 28th, and 5th grader Sam S. was the winner!  The Sunset School level GeoBee was the first round of the 31st annual National GeoBee, a geography competition designed to spark student interest and reward students’ curiosity about the world. Thousands of schools are participating in the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee.  Sam’s next step is to take a qualifying test for a spot to compete in…


District moves forward in Boundary Engagement Process

Updated November 20, 2018 Westside Community Schools continues to work through our Boundary Engagement Process to address possible shifts within the Loveland, Swanson and Sunset Hills neighborhoods. In response to feedback received during and after a second public forum earlier this month, we have updated the Boundary Engagement Process section of our website. Veterans Day Celebration

On Friday, November 9th, Sunset Hills celebrated and honored Veterans.  Performances from the different classes included:  poems, songs, and the 5th/6th grade band.  See below for a few highlights! What a great program!  Sunset Hills thanks you for your service!


Little Warrior STEM Camp

Literary Pumpkins!

Students at Sunset Hills were given the option to create a literary pumpkin.  Students chose a character from one of their favorite books and decorated a pumpkin to look like that character.
