Parents: Accompany Children To Games

Posted August 22, 2018 As Varsity athletic events begin this week, Westside Community Schools reminds parents of elementary-aged students to please accompany them to games. District leaders strongly encourage parents to supervise our younger fans at home games; please do not drop off elementary-aged students at the gates without adult supervision. Thank you for helping us ensure the safety and well being of all students, on and off the field!

NEW Sunset Hills Opens to Students and Staff

NEW Snack List for 2018-2019 School Year

Updated August 27, 2018 The Westside Safer & Healthier Foods Committee met this summer to revise the District Approved Snack List. This list provides dozens of choices for parents and families who wish to provide snacks and treats for their child and others in class or for school-related events. As a reminder: this list applies to all elementary schools. Secondary schools may bring in any commercially prepared items. No homemade food items or items including nuts…

Sunset’s Young Artists on Display

Posted March 8, 2018 Colorful paintings, whimsical 3-D pieces, and more turned Sunset Hills into an amazing art gallery during Art and Soup on February 23. The annual event, sponsored by our Community Club, combined an all-school art show with a soup/chili dinner. The students should be very proud of their wonderful artwork.

Enrichment Clusters

Posted April 18, 2017 This quarter students at Sunset Hills started enrichment classes, which will be held on Fridays from 2:30-3:15 until the end of the year.  Students were asked to choose topics of interest and then were placed in small groups based their interest. Classes are led by teachers, as well as parent volunteers.  Some examples of classes are:  games, book making, inventions, cooking, movie making, animals, science, coding and sports.   So far,…

Sunset Hills Honors Veterans

Author Kate Klise Visits Sunset Hills

Posted November 16, 2016 Children’s Author Kate Klise visited Sunset Hills last week! She talked to students about the writing process, as well as her journey to becoming an author. Kate also shared parts of her books! It is always a great experience for students to learn about writing from authors!

Sunset Hills Welcomes Artist Scott Blake

Posted October 27, 2016 This week students at Sunset Hills had the opportunity to work with local artist Scott Blake. Blake uses pixelated images, barcodes and flip books to express his creativity.  For his work with the students, Blake took each child’s school picture and pixelated the image.  Students then used finger paints to fill in the image.  Thank you to the Sunset Hills Community Club and ArtPALS for this amazing opportunity!
