Mission and Description
Welcome to Sunset Hills — Home of the Tigers!
Sunset Hills Elementary School, the district’s smallest school, strives to prepare its 150 students to be lifelong learners, effective citizens, and caring people. The Community Club’s many different academic, social, and fundraising committees involve more than 50% of its parents in efforts ranging from supporting literacy development and fine arts programs to planning the school carnival. High attendance at social events and biannual parent-teacher conferences are further evidence that at Sunset Hills everyone works together to educate the whole child in a caring environment. For complete and current demographic information about Sunset Hills, please visit the state of Nebraska’s Department of Education website.
The mission of Sunset Hills School, as part of a cohesive, involved community, is to provide a quality, well-rounded education by maximizing opportunities for each learner in a safe an caring environment.
School Improvement Goals:
Sunset Hills Elementary School is committed to ongoing school improvement that promotes academic, social and emotional growth for every student. Sunset Hills is currently embarking on a five year improvement plan through the NCA process. The improvement plan goal is to have all students improve their writing skills through a systematic implementation of the writing process. In keeping with district technology objectives, teachers are committed to broadening their technology skills and finding viable ways to use digital content to support and enhance instruction. The Sunset Hills community is also committed to supporting technology development in the school. With a recent donation from the community club, the reality of a mobile iBook lab was purchased. Sunset is a place where students and parents, teachers and patrons take an active role in developing future leaders and responsible citizens.
