Teacher of the Month Awarded to Sunset Teacher!

Congratulations to Westside Teacher of the Month, and Sunset Hills teacher, Kelly Collins.  Mrs. Collins received nominations and high praise from her fellow teachers, parents and students.  Mrs. Collins won $100 from PinPoint Home Sales Group Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Ambassador Real Estate!  We are so lucky to have Mrs. Collins at Sunset!

Visiting Artist Fundraiser Information

Don’t forget to order your items from our visiting artist, Julia Mason!  Ms. Mason has completed a very special painting of Sunset Hills which includes aspects of our first building and our current one.  Order forms were sent home in backpacks and can be found in the March Tiger Times Newsletter.  These are due March 15th!  All proceeds will support our ArtPALS program!

Local Artist Visits Sunset Hills

Artist Julia Mason visited Sunset Hills last week and taught students how to draw and use watercolors to create historical Omaha buildings. The students’ art will be celebrated at Sunset’s art show and dinner, Art & Soup, in February.

“Grossology” Visits Sunset Hills!

As an end of the first semester celebration, Omaha Children’s Museum visited Sunset with their presentation, “Grossology.”  Students were entertained with many “gross” facts and demonstrations.  Thank you to Community Club for sponsoring this event!

Gingerbread House Tradition

This week, all students participated in Sunset’s annual tradition of making Gingerbread Houses.  Students paired with their grade level buddies and went to work!  The houses have been displayed at Sunset this week and will soon be moved to various places around Omaha to spread some holiday cheer!  Thank you to Community Club for sponsoring this activity!

Sunset Hills Geography Bee

A Geography Bee took place at Sunset Elementary on November 28th, and 5th grader Sam S. was the winner!  The Sunset School level GeoBee was the first round of the 31st annual National GeoBee, a geography competition designed to spark student interest and reward students’ curiosity about the world. Thousands of schools are participating in the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee.  Sam’s next step is to take a qualifying test for a spot to compete in…
